WHEN WILL MY PLAYER TRYOUT?
The tryout schedule is published on HWLL website and emailed to all registered families.
WHAT DO PLAYERS NEED FOR THE TRYOUT?
- Baseball attire (hat, shirt, baseball pants, baseball cleats)
- Baseball glove
- Baseball bat (must be USA certified)
- Baseball helmet
Note: If you player does not have the equipment needed, please contact the league and we can provide equipment for the tryout.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE TRYOUT?
Players are scored on Catching, Fielding, Arm, Agility, Batting. To access these skills, players will run through (3) stations.
1 - Fly Balls
Players receive (3) fly balls and make the throw to 2nd base. After completing (3) fly balls, each player will proceed to 2nd base to receive the throw. Note: When the first player takes their turn, the last player in line receives at 2nd then returns to the line.
2 - Ground Balls
Players receive (3) ground balls and make the throw to 1st base. After fielding (3) ground balls, each player will proceed to 1st base to receive the throw. Note: When the first player takes their turn, the last player in line receives at 1st then returns to the line.
3 - Batting
Players receive 5-7 pitches. On last pitch, run through 2nd base
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TRYOUT?
The purpose of the tryout is to allow managers and league officials the opportunity to evaluate players ahead of the team drafts. Every player must attend a league sanctioned tryout in order to be drafted onto a Majors, Minor A, Minor B, or Minor C team.
After tryouts are completed, teams are drafted, rosters approved, and the managers are able to contact their teams. Rosters for drafted divisions will be announced 12/20/25.
Note: T-Ball and Coach Pitch division are not drafted. Those teams are formed and announced in early January.
